The Yoga of Fatherhood

The Yoga of Fatherhood

March 14, 2015

Robbie Day1No amount of yoga practice will prepare you for being a first time Dad. The tidal wave of love and contentment that hits you when you hold your first born in your arms defies preparation. You have to experience it first hand to understand. It is Samadhi, beyond description. I have always been afraid of having a child. From the outside it always seemed like so much hard work and sacrifice, but now that I am in it, joy overwhelms all fear. Life does not feel like a chore anymore. Purpose fills my soul. Desires vanish and contentment envelopes my entire being. In a way, yoga may have prepared me for being a father. Yoga opened me, enabling me to receive. My emotional baggage and fears confronted and left on the mat in a puddle of sweat. Namaste..
