Yoga Studio Review: Yoga One with Dr. Steve Feinzig

I recently moved from Miami Beach to Hollywood, FL and when I asked my friend Andrew clark of 1111 Vibes where I should take a yoga class he highly recommended Yoga One. Yesterday I checked the schedule at Yoga One and saw that Yogi Steve Feinzig was teaching at 9:15am. The studio is very close to our new YOGiiZA HQ so I zipped over and made it to class with time to spare. There was lots of free parking. The smell of clean incense led me to the door. Steve greeted me with a huge smile and good morning cheer. I immediately felt at home, which I believe is important when exploring a new studio. The space is impressive. There is a beautiful wood floor, a high ceiling, that is softened with decorative drapes, and ample room to move. The colors are cheerful and the lighting is perfectly dimmed. By far the best part of Yoga One has to be Dr. Steve. He is amazing. I can often be critical of yoga teachers but there was not one thing about Steve that I did not like. He teaches with an emphasis on proper alignment while inspiring students to challenge their limits. You can tell he takes the practice serious, but he tells jokes and skillfully gets you to laugh at yourself. Steve reminds the students of the power of hatha yoga to awaken the spiritual. He is excellent at guiding the mind into the eternal now by bringing its attention inward towards the body. The sequencing was very intelligent gradually opening up the body in stages. I did not come out of the class drenched in sweat, like after Ashtanga, but he helped me access deeper into areas of the body that I am not accustomed to. I still feel it today in a very good way. Steve teaches the kind of class that leaves you wanting more. I am so glad that I took advantage of the first time deal of $40 unlimited for the first month. I will be back to Yoga One for more of yogi Steve next week. I am also looking forward to experiencing what some of the other teachers have to offer.
