Ecstatic Dance in Miami

Ecstatic Dance Miami[/caption] YogiJoaquin reporting: Where do yogis go to dance? I love dancing but I can't remember the last time that I went out to a club here in Miami. There are major things about the Nightlife scene that really turn me off. I'll list a few: cigarette smoke, over priced water, drunk people, lots of judging, and I hope to not insult but too many "wanna be" types. In my experience, Nightclubs are tense and uncomfortable. As a Yogi I don't fit in. I am writing this post to inform YOU, my yogi friends that if you love to dance, and like me, you are grossed out by the nightlife scene, there is hope. I want to tell you about my friends Alex and Jill who recently moved to South Beach all the way from California. These two are real pioneers and they've come here to share with us Ecstatic Dance. Ecstatic Dance is a safe and sacred space for dancing. When I dance, I like to feel comfortable. Last week I danced wearing my 'Forest Night' Yogiiza pants, and barefoot; I danced until I was completely covered in sweat. It was tribal, it was deep, it was therapeutic and transformational. For me it was Yoga. From the Ecstatic Dance Miami website: "Ecstatic Dance Miami, we join together to create a safe and sacred space for dancing. The no shoes, no talk, no booze on the dance floor framework allows us to move out of our heads, into our bodies, hearts, and souls and create a self environment for self exploration, heartful community connections. At Ecstatic Dance we leave behind the words and worries of the day and connect with spirit and one another in new ways. Ecstatic Dance has been created as a safe container, whether we’re dancing alone or with others." So If you are into anything that I am saying here check it out yourself. Ecstatic Dance Miami currently meets every Thursday. It's a $15 donation and They get started at 7:00 PM with 60 minutes of Yoga, followed by dancing from 8:00 to 11:00 PM.
