Yoga w/ Adam Vitolo
I was immediately captivated by the attention and detail that Adam Vitolo emphasizes during each one of his Iyengar classes. I have been practicing Iyengar yoga with Adam Vitolo for the last few years. Before including this alignment style of yoga into my routine, I was practicing the more dynamic style of vinyassa, which includes 1 breath per movement. Anybody who practices a more flow-y type of yoga should incorporate the principles of alignment rooted in Iyengar yoga. B.K.S Iyengar is the founder of the style. As a child, Iyengar had severe health conditions and was rehabilitated through the practice of yoga. Similarly, Adam Vitolo was hit by a car, which initially drew him to the Iyengar style of yoga. Adam teaches with care and caution and ensures that each student is 100% comfortable in each asana. Before meeting Adam, I never knew that I needed to correct my savasana! Adam also incorporates the use of the ropes wall into most of his classes. The ropes allow you to open up each crevice of your body. It is slightly painful, yet exhilarating, and provides a great, long-lasting stretch of each part of the body. Adam has also been known to help students go upside-down on these ropes. And did I forget to mention? Fun fact. Adam is always clad in the latest short shorts of the season! Adam recently participated in a yoga-thon at the Iyengar Institute in New York City.
